Rōute reads your booking confirmations, lays them out day by day, and watches your flights for you. Most of that happens quietly, so here's how to find all of it.

Section 1

Get your trips in without typing

This is the part most people miss. You almost never have to enter a booking by hand. Forward it, share it, or paste it, and Rōute pulls out the flight, hotel, or reservation for you. Every path ends the same way: a review screen where you check what it found before anything is saved. Rōute never adds anything behind your back.

Share a confirmation from any app

When a booking lands in Mail, or you're looking at it in Safari, Files, or a PDF viewer:

Tap the Share button (the square with the arrow up).
Scroll the row of apps and tap Rōute.
Rōute says "Saved to Rōute" and opens itself.
Check the booking on the review screen and tap add.

It handles flights, hotels, cruises, restaurants, activities, and transport, and reads the airline, times, flight number, and confirmation code out of the mess.

Paste it into the Import tab

Copied some text, or no email to share? Open the Import tab, paste into the box, and tap Parse. If Rōute notices you've already copied something, it offers a one-tap "Read it" so you don't even paste.

The email that won't share cleanly

Some airline and hotel emails share as a jumble. The fix is built in: in the email, open the menu and tap Print, then pinch out on the preview to turn it into a PDF, then Share that to Rōute. Rōute keeps this exact walkthrough under Import, tap "Importing from an email? Here's how."

Upload a PDF

Already have the confirmation saved as a PDF? Import tab, Upload a PDF, pick the file. Same result.

Share a place from Maps

Found a restaurant or sight in Apple Maps or Google Maps? Share it to Rōute and it opens an "add place" card, already filled in, and suggests which trip it belongs to.

One whole trip at once. Paste a Fora itinerary link and Rōute pulls in every booking on it together. And if someone AirDrops you a .route file, it restores as a full trip, which is also how you move a trip between your own devices.

The honest bit. Rōute uses AI to read messy confirmations when you're online, and falls back to its own built-in readers when you're not. Either way, nothing about your trip is stored on our servers, it's read, pulled apart, and kept on your phone. The one thing it can't do is read a screenshot, so share the text or a real PDF, not a picture of one.

Section 2

The stuff Rōute does on its own

These features stay quiet until they're useful, so it's easy to own Rōute for months and never know they're there. You don't set any of it up.

Day by day itinerary with travel legs — Your bookings on one timeline, with drive times and layovers filled in between them.

Flight detail with confirmation number — Every item opens to a clean card. Confirmation numbers copy with one tap.

Live flight status

Add a flight and Rōute tracks it. A status pill shows on-time, delayed, or cancelled; tap it for gate, terminal, baggage, and the times in each airport's own time zone. It only shows status it can actually confirm.

When Starts checking the day before departure, so a flight weeks out shows nothing yet. It then refreshes about once an hour, and every 15 minutes in the final 2 hours.

Change alerts, even when closed

If your gate moves or the flight slips 15 minutes or more, you get a heads-up. It only pings on a real change, never to repeat what you already knew.

When Only inside that same day-of window, re-checked in the background about every 30 minutes, plus whenever you open the app, even with Rōute closed.

Check-in reminders

A gentler thing than the alerts above: turn on Trip reminders in Settings and Rōute nudges you before each plan, so you're never the one sprinting to the gate. It's a separate switch and its own notification channel, so you can keep these and mute the delay alerts, or the other way round.

When Flights: 24 hours (check in), 3 hours (head to the airport), 1 hour (head to your gate). Hotels: 2 hours before check-in. Cruises: 3 hours before embark. Restaurants: 2 hours. Activities and transport: 1 hour. Add something last-minute and it still fires one heads-up.

Lock Screen & Dynamic Island

Your flight becomes a live tile with a countdown, an in-air progress arc, gate, and baggage. It handles the mid-air time-zone change for you.

When Appears about 2 hours before departure and stays through roughly 30 minutes after you land, then clears itself.

Home Screen widget

A "next up" glance: your soonest flight, dinner, or check-in with a countdown, the day's weather, and flight status.

When Always on, showing your next moment. The flight status on it follows the day-of window above; the weather line follows the 10-day one below.

Weather that follows the plan

Each day shows the forecast for the place that matters that day, the day-trip town, not the hotel city. Rain coming? You get a "pack a jacket" nudge.

When Any day within about the next 10 days. Days further out stay blank and fill in as the trip nears; it refreshes every couple of hours once you're close.

Maps & directions

Each day has an "On the ground" map with numbered pins that match your stops. It's a saved image, so it opens with no signal. Tap any stop for real turn-by-turn, handed off to Apple Maps, Google Maps, Waze, Uber, Lyft, or Grab, and falling back to Google Maps on the web so it's never a dead end.

It catches trip mistakes

A connection that's too tight, a night with no hotel, overlapping stays, or "starts in 20 minutes but it's 40 minutes away." Tap the banner to jump to the problem.

The Live Activity, alerts, and widget only appear around a real, upcoming flight, which is exactly why they're easy to miss. Add a flight with a near date and they light up on their own.

Section 3

Building a trip by hand

Prefer to type, or planning something that isn't booked yet? The whole app works by hand too.

Make a trip

Trips tab, tap the +. Give it a name, a destination, dates, how many travelers, and a cover photo, either your own from the camera roll or an Unsplash search, framed with a quick crop editor. Done.

Add things to a day

On the trip, tap Add item. Pick a type, then fill in whatever you have. There are seven types, and rental cars live under Transport. Every item takes a time, a place, a confirmation number, a booking link, and notes; you can attach the confirmation PDF to any of them and reopen it in Rōute's built-in viewer, no digging through your email at the check-in desk.

Item type picker: flight, hotel, cruise, activity, restaurant, transport, note — Seven item types. The Paste and Upload shortcuts at the top run the same reader on a single item.

New hotel form — Each type has a form that fits it, with sensible defaults pulled from the trip.

The day-by-day view

Everything strings onto one timeline in order. Rōute fills in your layovers and the travel time between stops, marks hotel check-in and check-out, and scrolls to today once your trip is underway. Tap any item to edit it, swipe to delete (with an Undo), or use Reorder to rearrange a day. Deleting a whole trip, from its ⋯ menu, also clears the PDFs you'd saved to it.

Section 4

Sharing, backup, and the extras

Export an itinerary PDF

Trip menu, Share / back up, Itinerary PDF. A clean, magazine-style day-by-day to send to whoever's coming, or to keep.

Back up or move a trip

Export a .route file to AirDrop, Files, or Mail. Open it on another device to restore the whole trip. Restores never use a free-trip slot.

It all works offline

Viewing, editing, searching, and your maps all work with no signal. Flight status, weather, and AI reading are bonuses that fall back quietly. Nothing to toggle.

Syncs across your devices

Signed into iCloud? Your trips sync automatically between iPhone and iPad. No account of ours, nothing on our servers, no switch to flip.

Rōute Wrapped

When a trip ends, Rōute wraps it up: days, nights, flights, miles flown, every stop drawn as one line. Once a year there's a Year in Travel recap. Both are made to share.

Search everything

The Trips search looks inside item titles, confirmation numbers, notes, and places, all on-device.

Past trips, kept

Once a trip's dates pass it moves to Past trips on its own, so your list stays about what's next. Nothing is deleted; reopen any of them, or their Wrapped, whenever you like.

Light or dark

Settings offers light, dark, or match-your-phone. The whole app follows it, and it's easy on the eyes on a red-eye.

Every feature is free. You only pay for more trips.

Here's the part that matters: everything in this guide, live flight tracking, reminders, maps, PDF export, offline, all of it, is in the free version. The one and only thing the paid unlock does is let you make more than two trips. No subscription, no account, no ads.
