Deleting your account

Spēnd only creates an account when you share a group or join one, using the Apple or Google sign-in you already have. If you've never shared a group, there's no account to delete: everything lives on your phone, and deleting the app deletes it.

How to delete it

1. Open Spēnd.
2. Go to Settings.
3. Tap Delete account and confirm.

What deletion removes

The account itself, and your user ID, your display name, and any payout handles (Venmo, Cash App, and the rest) are removed from every group you shared. Push notifications to your devices stop.

What stays, and why

Expenses you added to a shared group stay in that group. They're part of other people's balances too. Removing them would silently change what your friends owe each other, so the rows stay while your name and handles come off them. Your own local copy of any group stays on your phone until you delete the app.

Lost the phone?

If you can't reach the in-app control, email privacy@hytimesgroup.com from the address tied to your Apple or Google account and we'll delete the account for you.
